Would Depay be a good fit at Liverpool?

Former Venezuelan international Ale Moreno has suggested that Dutch striker Memphis Depay “would be willing” to sign for Liverpool due to his injury crisis.

Diogo Jota and Luis Díaz suffered injuries that sidelined them for several games before the international break, forcing Jota to miss the World Cup with Portugal.

The Colombian had initially been given a return date after the tournament, but it has since been confirmed that Diaz will be out until around March. The news represents a major setback for Liverpool, since the attacker had been one of their fittest players since his arrival.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have made a lackluster start to the Premier League campaign, suffering defeats to relegation candidates Nottingham Forest and Leeds United. While the conundrum of him in midfield is an area that needs to be prioritized, an experienced striker to bolster the team can help his case.

Moreno gives his opinion on Depay to Liverpool

Moreno said (via HITC): “I suppose it would be for Depay [an attractive move to Liverpool]but it is better that he is willing to press, to run, to defend and a lot of energy, which is not always his forte”.

He added: “While he can play up the middle, I don’t think that’s where he feels most comfortable. He likes to come from the left side. If he’s going to do that, then he had better be willing to run around for a bit.”
