‘Working hard’ – Fabrizio Romano drops Liverpool transfer claim after AXA training ground update

It goes without saying at this point that Arthur Melo is going absolutely nowhere (as things currently stand) in the January transfer window.

Speaking about the Brazilian’s near-term future at Anfield, Fabrizio Romano made it clear on Twitter that the club are keen to keep the midfielder for the duration of his loan.

If anything, key figures in Merseyside are said to have been impressed by the Brazilian’s dedication in training after he reportedly committed to double sessions and requested minutes with the Under-21 team.

Commitment to the cause can only take one so far at Anfield, of course, but it’s an important first step that shouldn’t go unnoticed.

Having initially turned heads in Catalonia, before his ill-fated move to Turin, we expect to see Arthur make a big splash on Merseyside beyond the international break.

The importance of Thiago Alcantara, a player seen by some as stylistically similar to the 26-year-old playmaker, will present a major hurdle in that regard.

However, knowing the Spaniard’s injury history, we can be sure there will be a chance for the loan signing to shine, either through rotation or being forced to spend another season on the sidelines.
