Wilver Hernandez, Marcus Davidson Get Wins at Memorial Hall in Kansas City

Bantamweight prospect and amateur standout Wilver Hernandez defeated Abel Soriano by unanimous decision last Saturday night at Memorial Hall in his adopted hometown of Kansas City, Missouri.

The scores were 59-52, 59-52 and 60-51 for Hernández, who improved to 6-0, 2 knockouts.

Soriano was willing for most of the fight, producing flashy exchanges between the two, but Hernandez was the more effective fighter. Hernandez was able to knock Soriano down a total of three times during the fight.

Hernández, who is originally from Acayucan, Mexico, was an 11-time national amateur champion. In his previous fight on February 26, Hernandez defeated Eder Clervoix by unanimous decision.

The 20-year-old made his professional debut on February 27 last year.

Soriano, who resides in Bellevue, Nebraska, drops to 10-2, 7 KOs. The 28-year-old has trained alongside WBO welterweight world champion Terence Crawford.

Welterweight Marcus Davidson of Kansas City, Kansas improved to 5-0, 4 KOs, defeating Brazilian Rodrigo Lopes Rodrigues by a one-sided six-round decision.

All three judges scored the fight 60-54 in favor of Davidson.

Lopes Rodríguez drops to 8-4, 7 KOs. He has now lost his last four bouts, all against undefeated opponents.

Older brother and junior welterweight Marcell Davidson knocked out Travis Floyd of Douglasville, Georgia at 1:13 of the fourth round. Davidson improves to 3-0, 2 KOs.

Floyd was making his professional debut.
