Why Juventus could delay giving a new deal to Huijsen –

Juventus are keen to link Dean Huijsen to a new contract as he develops into a decent defender and has been compared to Matthijs de Ligt.

The youngster is only 17 years old, but there is now a lot of interest in his signing, which shows that he has great talent and that Juve want to keep it.

Since he is not 18, they can only give him a short-term contract to keep him at the club, but Juve want more.

A report on Calciomercato reveals that Juve are holding off offering him a new contract until he can sign a long-term deal and they will tie him up for around five more seasons.

Juve FC says

The clubs are already hanging around Huijsen, so we have to be smart in the negotiations with his environment, knowing that some clubs have already started talking to them.

The Dutchman seems settled in Turin, which will help us keep him, but we need to work hard and make sure we don’t leave room for another suitor to talk him out of leaving and start playing for them.

If he does well on our Next Gen team, that could get him a promotion to the senior team for next season.
