James Pearce has recounted how Darwin Nunez’s teammates got their 23-year-old teammate back on the court in a positive frame of mind after a bad miss late in the first.

It was a much harder chance to double the lead for the visitors, but it goes to show the ex-Benfica man’s growing resilience when it comes to failing in the famous red shirt.

Seven goal contributions in 13 games, four of those goals in his last four starts, proves that perhaps some commentators and neutrals were a little too hasty in calling our No. 27 a summer dud.
Nunez still has a long way to go before he reaches the goalscoring excess heights of Erling Haaland (the man he was compared to before his move to Anfield) 25 goal contributions in 16 games.
However, the fact that our star striker appears to have struck gold for his consistency is all that matters after a rocky start on Merseyside.
