What Arthur Melo has been doing to catch up with Liverpool teammates

That said, few will be tempted to question his commitment to the cause after learning of his efforts to catch up with his new teammates by actively participating in extra work.

“Arthur has asked to play for the club’s Under-21s and is doing double sessions as he tries to catch up with his new team-mates after an interrupted pre-season,” Simon Jones wrote for the Daily Mail.

The 26-year-old arrived on Merseyside in fine form, despite some claims to the contrary, although he has a long way to go to reach a standard worthy of a Reds star.

“The former Barcelona player admitted he wasn’t where he wanted to be fitness-wise, but double training sessions and extra work in the gym have helped him make up ground in recent days,” the reporter added.

“In fact, Liverpool staff were so pleased with his request that Klopp and his coaches congratulated him after a session earlier last week and offered further words of encouragement as he shows a greater understanding of his demands and system.

“Arthur, in turn, has asked if he can earn more playing time with the club’s Under-21s. He has also avoided additional days off during the upcoming international break and has asked to stay for training every day.”
