West Ham star unhappy with gametime at London Stadium since Scamacca arrival

West Ham striker Michail Antonio has admitted in an interview to the Evening Standard that he is unhappy with his current role at the club and hopes to secure a starting place when the season restarts on Boxing Day against Arsenal.

The 32-year-old has only started six Premier League games this season since signing Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo.

He said, “No, I haven’t been happy [with the number of games I’ve played].

“I am someone who wants to play. I’m never going to settle for coming off the bench and being involved like that.

“That is something that has led me to where I am now. I’m not really the rotation type: if I’m fit, I want to play. It is the coach’s decision what he wants to do, but I will always tell him that I want to play.

“Throughout my entire career, there has always been competition, someone who wants to take your shirt off. Now, [Scamacca’s] I have the shirt. It’s up to me to try to improve and work on what I have to work on to get my shirt back”.
