West Ham star tipped to replace Anthony Gordon at Everton

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has suggested that Sean Dyche, the favorite to be appointed as Everton’s next manager, should sign West Ham United striker Michail Antonio to replace Anthony Gordon.

The Merseyside club are currently 19th in the Premier League table, having won just three games and scored just 15 goals this season.

They are currently on the hunt for a new manager after Frank Lampard was sacked, and former Burnley manager Sean Dyche is the frontrunner to take over, as reported by The Telegraph.

Dyche would have to address several issues immediately after taking charge of the club, including the league position and Gordon’s future at the club.

Gordon is pushing to leave Everton for Newcastle United in the final days of the transfer window, with Sky Sports reporting that the two clubs have agreed a fee.

The two clubs agreed an initial fee of £40m, plus add-ons that could bring the total to £45m.

With Gordon joining Newcastle, Keown thinks Dyche should ask Everton to sign West Ham star Antonio.

The Irons forward spoke about his future on The Footballer’s Football Podcast, saying:

“I have not ruled out anything. This is all I can say. Nothing has been ruled out. There are conversations.”

An earlier report from Sky Sports claims that West Ham will let Antonio go if David Moyes signs another striker besides Danny Ings.

Michael Antonio to Everton?

The 32-year-old has been at West Ham since 2015, when he joined for £7m from Nottingham Forest.

Keown has now told talkSPORT that Dyche should bid for Antonio. He said:

“I think Sean Dyche sits down with the players, meets with the players, finds out what’s going on, ‘What character do I have in front of me? It is bad? Can we repair the damage? OK no’. Correct, Antonio could be available at West Ham. There are options, let’s go for him.

“So maybe your first step is to spend some of that money and get the player out. So there is a lot to think about for the manager and he must immediately get down to business quickly. It is assumed that he was attentive to the work and the team during the last weeks ”.
