Warner Bros. Discovery Sports has unveiled the trailer for its upcoming coverage of the United States men’s and women’s national teams. Formally Turner Sports, the newly formed broadcast division signed an 8-year contract with US Soccer in March.
The 30 second long trailer features many stars from the two American teams. A compilation of game highlights and studio photos, the ad culminates with the phrase “Believers Unite.”
The new coverage of the two teams begins on January 17. HBO Max will air the women’s friendly between the US and New Zealand at 10 pm ET. As part of the deal that runs through 2030, the company will broadcast US domestic games on TNT and HBO Max. US Open Cup games will also be available on the services.
The streaming service will soon change its name
However, the games will only be on HBO Max for a short period of time. As of spring 2023, HBO Max will cease to exist. And the matches are expected to be on Warner-Discovery’s new streaming service, which will be called Max. HBO Max will then cease to exist.
The over-the-top streaming service is set to broadcast more than 20 USMNT and USWNT games each year. Traditional television networks TNT and TBS are also supposed to broadcast about half of these matches. Games on TV channels will continue to simulcast on HBO Max/Max.
Soccer president says deal will boost interest
US Soccer president Cindy Parlow Cone has previously stated that the networks will help grow the sport ahead of the upcoming World Cup. “During our discussions it became clear how dedicated [Warner Bros. Discovery Sports] they are to grow soccer in the United States, especially their commitment to expanding the women’s game,” said Parlow Cone.
“As we move into 2026 and beyond, we have found a fantastic partner to highlight the stories of our Women’s and Men’s National Teams.”
The United States, along with Canada and Mexico, will host the next men’s World Cup in 2026.
