Walker & James better than Trent Alexander-Arnold say Agbonlahor

Gabriel Agbonlahor has been an unpopular figure when it comes to Liverpool fans thanks in no small part to his recent controversial comments about Darwin Nunez’s form.

The Englishman came close to taking a step in the right direction after criticizing Gareth Southgate’s thoughts on Trent Alexander-Arnold, but will have been disappointed after backing both Kyle Walker and Reece James at top right-backs.

“For Southgate to come out and say that Trippier is better than Trent in every way I think is an insult,” the former Aston Villa hitman told talkSPORT.

“I like Trippier, but Trent is a better player in all aspects. Walker and James are better than Trent, but don’t say Trippier.

Come on. Joke over, Gareth.

To be entirely fair, the No.66’s form has been far from brilliant since the start of the campaign, although on balance over the last few seasons one could reasonably argue that the 23-year-old has been the leading full-back in the world (never mind being better than the aforementioned English stars).

To give credit where it is due, the Chelsea and Manchester City stars are certainly two world-class choices in their departments.

That said, the level at which Trent is operating, or, at least, has been operating at for much of his playing career under Jurgen Klopp, should have earned him a lot more credit on the bench where Gareth is concerned. Southgate. concerned.

He doesn’t necessarily deserve to be a starter in games in light of his current form, though it begs the question why he was previously overlooked when he delivered stellar performances for us on a weekly basis in trophy-winning campaigns.
