Wait For Canelo-Golovkin Almost Over

The Canelo-Golovkin wait is almost over

Las Vegas- The third Canelo Alvarez-Gennadiy Golovkin fight is obviously a big one, so on Wednesday night we recorded the podcast to release it a day earlier than usual! The fight is Saturday (DAZN PPV and PPV.com, 8 pm ET) at T-Mobile Arena for Alvarez’s undisputed super middleweight title.

This is what is in the program (in order):

Why my flight to Vegas on Wednesday was so terrible. Hear about the triple crown of trouble and feel my pain.

The truth about my attendance at the Canelo and GGG press sessions on Wednesday afternoon.

Discussion of some of the week’s news: Leigh Wood’s injury and the suspension of the fight with Mauricio Lara; Anthony Joshua agreeing to terms for a possible mega fight against heavyweight champion Tyson Fury on December 3; the pay-per-view card announcement for the Deontay Wilder-Robert Helenius event on October 15; the big junior flyweight unification fight between Kenshiro Teraji and Hiroto Kyoguchi taking place on November 1 and available in the US on ESPN+.

We give a sneak peek at the big fight, Canelo-GGG III, and why I’m so excited for it.

This fight is the continuation of two close and disputed battles.

The first fight in 2017, for Golovkin’s unified middleweight title, ended with one of the most controversial decisions in boxing history, a split draw in which the majority of GGG clearly won, despite the fact that the judge who he gave it to Alvarez, Adalaide Byrd, he had it against him. impressive 118-110.

The 2018 rematch resulted in Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs), 32, of Mexico claiming a hotly contested majority decision victory to take the middleweight belts from Golovkin and end his historic reign of the title in 20 successful division-tying defenses.

Meanwhile, Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs), a Kazakhstan native fighting out of Santa Monica, California, has to wait until his 40th birthday to have a third fight. That fight comes almost four years after the rematch, and five years since the first fight.

We also discuss the undercard, including WBC junior bantamweight champion Jesse Rodriguez’s defense against Israel Gonzalez in the co-feature.
