VVD drops hint that suggests LFC are preparing for busy transfer window

Virgil van Dijk has admitted that he expects Liverpool to add reinforcements to his squad in January with less than a week to go until the transfer window opens.

Jurgen Klopp has made it clear that he wants to bring in new faces in the coming months, especially a new midfielder, with Jude Bellingham being the German’s top priority.

The Reds returned to Premier League action tonight and although they defeated Aston Villa 3-1 to pick up three points, the Netherlands captain has insisted that “quality is always welcome at Liverpool”.

“Hopefully the injured players can return soon and we can welcome some new players to our football club,” said the No. 4 (quoted by The Anfield Talk on Twitter). “We’ll see. I think quality is always welcome at Liverpool.”

The FA Cup holders had a far from ideal first half of the campaign, only strengthening the calls for new signings.

Long-term injuries to Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota certainly haven’t helped, but with many of our current midfield options now on the wrong side of 30, middle-of-the-park additions wouldn’t hurt.

Any potential deal for Bellingham is likely to close in the summer, while we have also been linked with World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez and Moroccan Sofyan Amrabat.

It is clear that van Dijk would like to see some new additions to the team and he is certainly not the only one.
