Trent Alexander-Arnold has been the subject of a relentless tirade of criticism since the 2022/23 season began.
The England international admitted he felt he was judged to a higher standard than “isn’t required of other players”, accusing his critics of having a “vague opinion”.
To be entirely fair, it’s true that the 24-year-old hasn’t reached the ridiculous levels we’ve seen him occupy in recent years, although this is far from an endemic problem for him specifically within the Liverpool squad.
As many have rightly highlighted, it is extremely challenging for a player, no matter a group, to maintain a standard year after year and there is no doubt that the drop in form of players like Fabinho hardly helped the bottom line.
For our part, we have absolutely no doubts about the generational nature of our first-choice right-back and we stand behind him to succeed in the eyes of his most ardent critics once again.
