Manchester United knocked Barcelona out of the Europa League in an incredible 2-1 comeback at Old Trafford tonight, for a 4-3 aggregate score.
The Red Devils came from behind after a Robert Lewandowski goal in the first half to progress to the round of 16.
United achieved their goals through Fred and Antony’s replacement. The 20-time English champions bounced back from a lethargic and poor first half to produce a scintillating second-half performance.
The center of this improvement was the Brazilian winger, who replaced the lackluster Wout Weghorst.
Antony made an instant impact creating some chances from his favored position on the right.
He was rewarded for his efforts in the 73rd minute when a blocked shot from Fred landed on his left foot. Antony made no mistake when he fired a powerful shot past Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s reach.
Antony’s contributions did not go unnoticed by United legend Rio Ferdinand, who posted a moving video of his reaction to the Brazilian’s performance and his former club’s return.
Ferdinand said: “That’s what you want to see. People who come off the bench and make an impact.”
“Without getting angry, help the cause. United go to the next round after beating Barcelona, who are the leaders of LaLiga.”

The six-time Premier League winner said the team should now look to Sunday with a view to winning the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United.
Ferdinand expressed confidence in United’s chances of beating Eddie Howe’s men.
The former defender predicted that the Red Devils will beat the Magpies 2-0.
