Few signs are more alarming than Liverpool’s current list of top scorers for 2023, not to mention their lack of a league win this year with the latest three-point shootout coming against Leicester in December.
Jurgen Klopp is hoping his team can start to turn things around in the Merseyside derby, admitting to Jamie Carragher before the tie that he was desperate for a win to lift his spirits at Anfield.
With a 12-point gap to the top four (the Reds are two games down on fourth-placed Newcastle), three points in L4 would represent a huge boost.
