Before the MLS regular season concluded, Gonzalo Higuaín announced his retirement at the end of the season.
While Inter Miami made it to the playoffs this season, their path was cut short Monday after a first-round loss at the hands of New York City FC.
The former Juventus striker was on the pitch throughout the match but was unable to prevent his team from losing as the match ended 3-0 in favor of the hosts, leaving the Argentine heartbroken at the final whistle he scored the end of his days on the court.
