TV pundit Graeme Souness went on an embarrassing tirade on talkSPORT, where he attacked Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag.
Souness was talking about Ten Hag’s handling of the Cristiano Ronaldo saga. After bursting through the tunnel and leaving Old Trafford in a fit of rage, the 37-year-old was banished from the first team and kicked out of the matchday squad to face Chelsea.
Ronaldo has since returned to first-team training and is in contention to start Thursday’s Europa League match against Sheriff Tiraspol.
Souness took the point of view from Rio Ferdinand and Roy Keane that the Dutch coach should have communicated better with Ronaldo to prevent such events from occurring.
The 69-year-old didn’t stop there, adding: “Five years from now, Ten Hag will be out of United and no one will talk about him at Man United.”
“I would have fixed it with Ronaldo on day 1. Personally, I would use it very differently. I still think he has something to offer. Five years from now, no one will remember Ten Hag.”
“Ronaldo will be remembered as possibly the greatest player to ever kick a soccer ball.”

The Scot clashed with Talksport pundit Simon Jordan over the matter, who seemed to take a more reasonable and realistic approach, as most fans are in stark contrast to some of United’s former players.
Jordan jumped to Ten Hag’s defense and seemed to hint that it was up to Ronaldo to do better.
Jordan didn’t mince words with his comments, even going as far as calling Souness obtuse and accusing him of being stupid!

Hopefully, with Ronaldo now back with the senior team and clear talks having been held, the saga will now turn to water under the bridge.
The Ronaldo fiasco has far overshadowed the team’s affairs.
