(Video) Four players out for Derby as they head to Anfield for League Cup tie

Liverpool and Derby will meet in the Carabao Cup when Jurgen Klopp’s side begin their defense of the trophy, the visitors having to try and defeat the Reds without four players.

As reported on his club website: ‘Captain Curtis Davies (knee) remains out but underwent successful surgery and continues to recover well. It is expected that he can return to the fold in the coming weeks, in case his rehabilitation continues on track.

Defender James Chester (calf) and goalkeeper Joseph Anang (arm) remain absent and will not be available for the trip to Anfield.

Midfielder Jason Knight is back in contention after quickly recovering from the knee and ankle injury he suffered against Manchester City U21s in the last Papa Johns Trophy, but full-back Tom Barkhuizen (hamstring) stay out.

Defender Eiran Cashin received a straight red card in a 2-2 draw with Torquay United in the Emirates FA Cup on Sunday, however the club have successfully appealed the decision and the youngster will now be available for selection for the play. .

Manager Paul Warne also addressed the media before the match at Anfield and provided further updates on his players’ fitness.

It’s certainly not a complete squad to pick for the League One club, but that’s a similar problem we’re facing at the moment as well.

Let’s hope there are no more health problems for either team and that we can finish the game with a win and take another step towards Wembley.
