The German team looked good in the early stages of the match, taking the lead through Serge Gnabry. Jamal Musiala looked fascinating in midfield, creating almost at will.
However, there were one or two incidents where Costa Rica came in behind a sloppy German defense. That became an equalizing goal after Manuel Neuer failed to stop a first down.

As it is, with Japan facing Spain, it doesn’t help either team much. Both Costa Rica and Germany will leave without an equalizer from Spain.
