Ibrahima Konate appeared to miss Scott Arfield’s run into the box with Joe Gomez too far away to catch the former Burnley star before he got past Alisson Becker.
The Mersyesiders recovered well in less than 10 minutes, securing the equalizer through Bobby Firmino’s well-executed header from a corner.
