Victor Osimhen Wants to Stay at Napoli, Confirms Agent

The Napoli striker’s agent, Victor Osimhen, has insisted that the Nigerian international wants to stay with the Italian side despite interest from many clubs.

Osimhen was linked with a move away from Napoli in the previous transfer window. One rumor linked the 23-year-old with a move to Manchester United in a swap deal that would have seen Cristiano Ronaldo join the Serie A side.

Despite rumors of a move, Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, had insisted at the time that his client did not want to leave Napoli. Calenda said that Osimhen wants to play in the Champions League with Napoli.

A move never materialized and Osimhen stayed at Napoli at the end of the summer transfer window.

Calenda has now insisted again that Osimhen wants to stay at Napoli and that he is happy with the club’s project.

“There are many clubs interested in Victor but he wants to stay, he is very happy with the Napoli project,” Calenda told Radio Kiss Kiss, according to Fabrizio Romano.

He added: “We have been very clear this summer after strange rumors [Man Utd and Ronaldo swap deal]he wanted to stay.”

The 23-year-old has been playing for Napoli since joining the Italian outfit in the summer of 2020. Osimhen has a contract that runs until 2025 with Napoli.

Since moving to Napoli, Osimhen has appeared in 70 games for the Italian side in all competitions. He has also amassed 32 goals for the Serie A outfit.

Osimhen has made eight appearances for Napoli so far in the 22/23 season and has racked up four goals. He scored three of those in the Italian top flight.

Meanwhile, Napoli have had a stellar start to the season and are unbeaten in Serie A this season. They sit atop the points table with 26 points from their first 10 games in the league.

Napoli have eight wins and two draws in the 10 games they have played in the league this season. Luciano Spalletti’s side have a two-point lead over second-placed Atalanta, who have 24 points.

Napoli have also been impressive in the Champions League, winning all four games they have played so far in European competition this season. They lead Group A, which also includes Liverpool, Ajax and Rangers, with 12 points.
