Valencia look to tie down USA star despite ‘major attention’ from Liverpool

The World Cup has presented an opportunity for several lesser-known stars to break through on the bigger international stage, one of these players has subsequently been linked with Liverpool and it seems his parent club is keen to retain him.

As Bola reports: ‘despite the great attention [Yunus] Musah is receiving from clubs outside of Spain, Gennaro Gattuso’s team want to keep the young American a bit longer and are willing to offer a longer contract.

While the release clauses can be restructured through a transfer fee, Musah is worth $20 million currently on the market with Liverpool, Inter Milan, Chelsea and Arsenal as the biggest clubs mentioned. AC Milan have also been looking for Musah for some time, but no formal offer has been sent to Valencia’.

Various sources have linked Yunus Musah with a move to Anfield and many have rewatched his performances for the Americans during games in Qatar.

Despite these stories sharing updates saying we’ve already ‘contacted’ the player, it appears there is still no formal move from the Reds as of yet.

The 20-year-old joins Sofyan Amrabat as two men who didn’t appear to have much of a chance of making a move to Anfield before the tournament started, but their performances seem to have caught the eye of our club members.

The Valencia midfielder played all four games for his national team in the competition, but having progressed through Arsenal’s academy and England’s youth setup, he actually played alongside Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho on the international youth stage.

This connection to our team’s players and understanding of the English game could make him a somewhat cheaper option for our midfield unless Gennaro Gattuso has his way and can lock him into a lucrative long contract.
