Usyk Wants To Fight Deontay Wilder If Fury Match Doesn’t Happen

By Charles Brun: Oleksandr Usyk says he wants to fight former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder if the Tyson Fury fight doesn’t happen.

Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) is arguably the next best option for IBF, WBA and WBO champion Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) if his first pick of Fury doesn’t take place.

Setting up a fight with the 6’7″ Deontay would be infinitely easier than negotiating with Fury, whose recent wins have gone to his head.

With the way Fury talks, you can’t trust him that a fight can be successfully negotiated. He’s talking about wanting $500 million, and while he’s obviously the one joking, one gets the feeling he’s going to demand unrealistic money for the Usyk fight.

If you’re Usyk, you should put Fury aside and take the lucrative Wilder fight next, as it will draw interest from around the world and not just in the UK.

Fury is popular in his home country of the UK, but he’s not a big name among casual boxing fans in the US They don’t know who he is.

“We’ll see. I don’t want to make empty statements. I could still box Fury or Wilder, but that’s where my interest ends,” Oleksandr Usyk told talkSPORT about wanting to fight Deontay Wilder if the fight with Tyson Fury doesn’t happen.

Yeah, it doesn’t make sense for Usyk to fight Anthony Joshua again because he’s pretty much a mental basket case right now. The only options for Usyk are Fury and Wilder.

If you want to look at it realistically, Wilder is really the only option because Fury is going to ask for too much green to make the fight.

Usyk should let Fury take care of himself until he takes on Wilder and hopefully, by then, he’ll be back on earth and drop his demands for money.

“He wants to fight me. He wants people to talk about him,” Usyk told Sky Sports of Fury. “He hasn’t retired yet; it’s just a game: ‘I’m leaving boxing’, ‘I’m coming back’. He still wants to make money.

“Tyson Fury loves to talk. All that blah blah blah,” Usyk said.

I totally agree with Usyk. Fury is all mouth, babbling about this or that, and always talking about retirement. He is so boring.
