Tyson Fury Wants Manuel Charr Next

By Jim Calfa: Tyson Fury says he wants Manuel Charr for his next fight after giving up his fight against Anthony Joshua when he didn’t sign the contract by the assigned deadline of 5:00 pm today.

Charr, 37, is not ranked in the top 15 by the WBC, so it is unclear how the World Boxing Council will sanction the fight.

If all that matters is that Charr (33-4, 19 KO) is ranked in the top 20, Fury has a winner, but it’s still a truly horrible fight that will expose him to severe taunts from the fans.

Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, is still working on putting together the Joshua fight, as is Eddie Hearn. What if the two of them get Joshua to sign the contract for the fight in a day or two?

Does Fury still stubbornly insist on fighting Charr, or does he take a mature approach and face Joshua on December 3? It would be interesting if Fury stands his ground and childishly rejects Joshua’s fight because he didn’t sign by today’s 5pm deadline. That would be a sign of a person whose ego has gotten out of place.

“Deadline’s up, fools,” Tyson Fury said on social media. “If I give a sucker a chance at the big time, I expect them to sign when they’re told. Nuff said. It’s a shame AJ doesn’t have balls.”

“There were a lot of positive calls today between promoters and broadcasters who are working hard to get the fight done,” Eddie Hearn said of the efforts to make the Joshua vs. Fury.

“There has been no talk of a deadline between the parties, but we are moving at a pace to try and close the deal.”

“He has to be patient for a couple more days,” Gareth A. Davies told iFL TV of Fury. “Is Anthony Joshua holding back? Will they get the hell out of the details worked out between the lines in the contract? We do not know yet.

“Hearn said on Sunday that they weren’t going to terminate the contract today, but said they are working on it. We don’t want to see Tyson Fury fight Manuel Charr and Anthony Joshua disappear to fight someone else.

“If it’s Joshua-Fury, it’s going to be sold anyway. If it’s Manuel Charr, they need to take that fight on the road. It’s not a fight I want to see. A water foot fight for Tyson Fury. He handles Manuel Charr so easily. Not really what we want to see.

“We’re hoping they’ll get over it in the next 24, 48, 72 hours because they need to get over it this week,” Davies said.
