Twitter Blasts A Shocking BBL Decision, Batsman Was Declared Caught Behind Despite A Large Gap

Jordan Silk was apparently caught from behind, even though replays showed clear space between bat and ball when a spike on ‘snicko’ emerged.

Jordan Silk was in charge of a new BBL incident on Friday night after the third referee appeared to make a major error during a DRS analysis. The Sydney Sixers defeated the Melbourne Stars in a final battle at the MCG, but not without drama.

The Sydney Sixers defeated the Melbourne Stars by six wickets in their Big Bash League (BBL) match on Friday. However, there was a controversial moment during the match when an umpire error cost the Sixers’ Jordan Silk the wicket from him in the penultimate over of the game.

Silk missed a slice shot that went into the goalie, and the Sixers required two runs in three deliveries. But James Vince called him out for a single. The bowler and wicket-keeper, on the other hand, worked together to bring down the stumps at the non-striker’s end.

What happened in the match?

While Silk appeared to have come up short in the end, forward Stars captain Adam Zampa accepted a check for a rear blow.

Silk was eventually pinned from behind, despite replays showing a clear gap between the ball and the bat when a smash occurred on ‘snicko’.

Silk objected and sought reconsideration himself. But he was ultimately forced to return to the field after the review was rejected.

Jordan’s reaction:

“I certainly heard a boom when my bat went by. I could tell there was a spike on Snicko when he (my bat) went by. But the front camera indicated that it was about that far away. So I’m not sure how they decided to come to that. “After the game, Silk was quoted by Fox Sports Australia as saying.

“That’s what I witnessed on TV, so that’s what put me off (when I tried to review). But I think I was already at the opposite extreme. Controversy haunts me right now. It was a strange time, I don’t know. I thought I was messing with the snicko until I noticed a gap in another chamber. It certainly could have blown up,” he went on to say.

Silk has been embroiled in controversy throughout the BBL series, including his controversial sending off against the Brisbane Heat. Michael Neser shuffled the ball while he was standing on the boundary line. But the catch was allowed since his feet never touched the ground when in contact with him.

Despite this, the third referee ruled Silk out and instructed the referee on the field to reverse his earlier decision. The bizarre moments sparked debate in the comment thread and on social media sites.
