Tottenham transfer news: Bryan Gil replacement needed

Tottenham will only allow Bryan Gil to leave the club if they can bring in a replacement on the transfer market, according to Fabrizio Romano in today’s edition of the Daily Briefing, his exclusive column for CaughtOffside.

Gil has struggled in his time at Spurs, and is currently out of favor with Antonio Conte, although it seems he won’t necessarily have the clearance to walk away from the club just yet.

Romano claims the Spaniard was also targeted by Valencia over the summer, but the situation was the same then, and the deal fell through because of Tottenham’s desire to secure a replacement first.

“There has been more speculation about the future of Bryan Gil,” Romano said. “My understanding is that he could only leave Tottenham if a replacement is signed.

“This was the case in August with the Valencia move and it remains the same now.

“It’s too early to say where it could go and if there will be any movement.”

It will be interesting to see who THFC might choose to replace Gil, who surely won’t be content to stay in North London much longer.

The 21-year-old could still have a good career ahead of him, but it hasn’t happened to him in English football and one game looks like the best thing for all involved.
