Tottenham Hotspur player Ben Davies has expressed concern about his former team-mate, Marcus Edwards, who will play them in today’s UEFA Champions League match.
Marcus Edwards was one of the standout players when Sporting CP defeated Tottenham in the previous Champions League game. He caught the attention of many pundits with his brilliant solo career. But that was finally saved by the goalkeeper.
The Primeira Liga club won the match with a score of 2-0. Paulinho and Arthur scored in the match. Although Edwards was not on the record, he was one of the standout players.

While speaking to Football.London, Davies revealed: “Marcus is a very good player. He is very direct, he keeps control of the ball very well and he is quick when he gets you into those situations. It will be a difficult game to play against him.”
Davies is also optimistic about the former Tottenham player’s bright future. He praised the player’s motivation to play in a non-British league. He said: “He has shown that he is willing to go to a place where not many young Brits have gone and worked hard. He now he is reaping the rewards for it.”

Edwards’ time after leaving Tottenham Hotspur
Marcus Edwards spent 12 years at Tottenham Hotspur. At Spurs, he joined Norwich City on loan in 2017. But he didn’t get enough chances to impress there.
He went out on loan to the Dutch Excelsior again for one season in 2018. He appeared 25 times and recorded two goals and four assists.
In the summer of 2019, his stay at Tottenham came to an end after signing for Vitoria Guimaraes for free. The 23-year-old is now one of the hottest prospects in the Portuguese top division.
Edwards is well known for his ability to dribble and rush, which causes problems for defenders to guard him correctly.
Davies joined Tottenham Hotspurs in the summer of 2014 when Edwards appeared in the academy. The Wales defender had also shared a field together before when Edwards made his senior debut.
Davies surely hopes that whoever plays at left-back can minimize the Sporting winger’s threat on the home pitch.
