Tottenham Hotspur Held Talks With Google Over Stadium Naming Rights

Tottenham Hotspur appear to be very close to signing a deal with Google over the naming rights to the stadium.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has always had a clear view on the club’s policy, as he did not rush in terms of a stadium naming rights deal. He was waiting for a suitable partner.

After opening Tottenham Hotspur Stadium three and a half years ago, Spurs’ impressive stadium still has no sponsor.

Daniel Levy confirmed in 2019 that the club would secure a deal with the “right brand, with the right money”.

According to The Athletic, the situation is about to change. Sources confirmed that Tottenham had “significant discussions” with Google over the stadium naming rights deal. Spurs replaced their old White Hart Lane stadium with £1 billion to build the modern Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The best stadium in England has a capacity of 62,850 people and even hosted an NFL game between the New York Giants and the Green Bay Packers on October 9.

Levy is expected to be happy to do business with one of the largest and most valuable global brands.

Three years ago, Levy declared, “We’re only going to do a naming rights deal if we get the right brand, in the right industry, with the right money. If we can’t meet those three criteria, we won’t. At the moment, we have not found a company that meets all three criteria. We’re not really close to anything on that right now.”

This deal will open up a number of possibilities for Tottenham Hotspur. Recently, Google is doing business with a number of sports associations. The Tottenham deal will help them break into the English Premier League.

Google also signed a deal with the McLaren F1 racing team a few months ago. They also have commercial agreements with the NBA and MLD in the United States.

Appointment of a new financial director

After bringing in Todd Kline as CFO in March, Tottenham were seeking a very lucrative sponsorship deal for the stadium’s naming rights. Todd Kline has the experience of pulling off the third-highest deal in NFL history in his time.

Kline revealed to SportsPro: “I think we will find the right partner for the right place. And sometimes when making complicated deals, sometimes patience is the key.”

However, this historic deal may turn out to be a boon for Antonio Conte. This significant financial injection will help Tottenham Hotspur build their team with more outstanding players. They need a bigger and better team to challenge Premier League heavyweights like Manchester City.
