Toni Kroos Lavishes Praise on Raphael Varane

Toni Kroos has praised the France defender and his former Real Madrid teammate Raphael Varane.

Raphael Varane is considered one of the best defenders in the world, and he and France are just one win away from winning the FIFA World Cup title for the second time in a row.

Toni Kroos and Raphael Varane were teammates at Real Madrid for seven seasons between 2014 and 2021 until the latter left the Spanish club to join Premier League side Manchester United in the summer of 2021.

At Manchester United, he and Lisandro Martínez have effectively become manager Erik ten Hag’s preferred pairing as a central defender. For France, he remains a key player and was part of the team that won the 2018 FIFA World Cup title.

Toni Kroos, who continues to play for Real Madrid, has praised Raphael Varane, calling the Frenchman the ‘complete package’. He praised Raphael Varane, who he said is a “very uncomfortable” defender to play against.

“Incredibly fast. Really one of the fastest teammates I would even say. There were some rapids. He is really amazing. I haven’t seen anyone run away from him in the time he’s been here,” Toni Kroos told Real Total.

“He was a solid pillar with us along with (Sergio) Ramos in the really big years. He did an outstanding job and a really complete package.”

Toni Kroos added: “He doesn’t do miracles with the ball up front, but he is a very difficult defender to play against. You can’t beat him in the air, like I said, he’s insanely fast, you can’t run away from him either. Good man.”

Meanwhile, Raphael Varane and France have a chance to win the FIFA World Cup title for the second time in a row. They have secured their place in the final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup after defeating Morocco in the semi-final.

France, which is the defending world champion, will face Argentina in the final of the latest edition of FIFA’s flagship event. Raphael Varane has started five of the six games France have played so far in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Manchester United defender is expected to start for Didier Deschamps’ side when they take on Argentina.
