“To feel even worse?” – Jurgen Klopp’s damning response to Premier League table question – Liverpool FC

After Liverpool went through their fourth Premier League draw of the season, Jurgen Klopp had a damning answer to a question about the league table on Saturday.

It was perhaps Liverpool’s most disappointing performance of the campaign so far.

After beating Ajax to reach the international break on top, the fans came back to their feet with another poor defensive performance against Brighton.

Seven games into the season, the Reds languish in mid-table, having amassed just 10 points. They are 11 points behind leaders Arsenal, whom they will visit in their next Premier League game, and any hope of a title challenge is fading fast.

After the match, Klopp was asked if he was paying attention to the table at the moment, and his reply summed up the mood among most Liverpool supporters at the moment.

“For what reason? To feel even worse? I know we have 10 points, and that’s the reality,” he told BBC Sport.

“I’m not hiding from it. We have to go through it together and we will.”

Klopp is right. Is there any point in looking at the table when the only focus should be on Liverpool solving their own problems?

One thing is for sure, any hope of challenging the likes of Man City will soon be dashed if the Reds continue to drop points at the current rate.

Despite coming back from two goals down, the Liverpool manager admitted his team would not have deserved to beat Brighton, a team he says “always” give the Reds trouble.

“It would be a good story if you can win this game,” he continued.

“Yeah, not too convincing, but a really strong opponent, at a completely different time than ours. And we always had problems against Brighton, a very good football team, they always cause us problems.

“Most of the time we still won, but we weren’t much more convincing than today. Everyone probably forgets that, but yeah, we have to do better.”

Hopefully the boss will be happier to see the league standings in the coming weeks.
