While things might not have worked out in the end, Thomas Tuchel’s nearly two years at Chelsea will be fondly remembered by Chelsea fans, who will always hold him in high regard.
Not only for leading us to victory in the Champions League, but also for what he did to help us get through the turbulent time of the club’s takeover and the sanctions. He literally was the face of the club when all that happened and he was forced to be the unofficial spokesperson.
He kept the players playing throughout that period and kept the fans calm and positive when none of us had any idea what was around the corner. Even his job was in danger, as was the entire club at the time. Tuchel deserves the utmost respect for that period.
He also took us to five finals, and we had a great time with him as the boss. Whatever your thoughts about football becoming mundane and boring, and relationships breaking down in the locker room and between Tuchel and the new board, we can always look back on those moments and congratulate Tuchel on his time here for all of that, and for the triumph of the UCL.
I don’t have a bad word to say about him and regardless of what happened behind the scenes, because clearly something has happened, I will always thank him and wish him much success in the future and in his next move.
So thank you, Thomas, for everything you did for our club.
