Thomas Tuchel is keen to succeed Gareth Southgate as England manager.
According to new reports from The Telegraph, Southgate could leave his post. While the former Chelsea manager is in contention to replace him.
The German manager is currently out of a job after facing a surprise sacking by Chelsea’s new owners.
Southgate’s own future is uncertain due to a series of poor performances in recent times. He though he helped his country become a finalist for Euro 2020.

Thomas Tuchel is one of the biggest names in the world of football. His team Chelsea won the Champions League in the 2020-21 season.
But after 16 months of winning Europe’s biggest club trophy, he was sacked by Chelsea’s new owners. The rumors pointed out that they did not agree with the project for the future of the club.
At the time of his departure, he wished to remain in London. Like his children they are studying at school in Surrey. However, Tuchel will have to leave the country due to the Visa problem.
Reports suggest that if the opportunity to succeed Gareth Southgate presents itself, Tuchel will not say no to the role. However, Mauricio Pochettino is also on the England FA list.
Visa complications
The same report also suggests that Thomas Tuchel could return to Germany before the end of the year, due to his complicated visa situation. The former PSG manager is seeking clarity on his permission to stay in the UK after losing his job at Chelsea in September.
Under the terms of Tuchel’s post-Brexit governing body back-up visa, the 49-year-old could have just 90 days to stay in England after his dismissal. This puts him to stay until early December.
According to various rumours, Thomas Tuchel has received several approaches from various clubs, which include clubs from England and Spain. If he gets the scholarship for a new Visa in England, he can resume his job either for a club or the national team.
The possibility is that Southgate will lead England at the World Cup in Qatar in November. Harry Kane and his team managed to reach the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup in Russia. They also had an excellent experience at Euro 2020 by reaching the final.
Gareth Southgate on his future
Gareth Southgate recently spoke about his future. He spoke: “As we speak now, I have a contract for this moment in 2024, but I also know very well that in football you have to get results. So the plan is there and the desire for continuity is also there, but I’m also not taking it for granted that you can underperform and expect to stay in that office.”
