“There’s nothing” in Fury vs Joshua contract to cause current delay

Promoter Frank Warren assured fans that his team is continually working to get Fury vs. Joshua over the line despite a recent meltdown.

Tyson Fury told his British rival, Anthony Joshua, that he had until 5pm UK time on Monday to sign, or the deal would be off.

A television appearance on Saturday night at the Joe Joyce vs. Joseph Parker event, where Fury delivered the first ultimatum, appears to have cornered “The Gypsy King.”

As stubborn as the WBC heavyweight champion is, he was never going to go back on his stipulation with Joshua.

Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, said they would not sign the deal. Joshua then said that he would. It’s all been another mess with just the British fans suffering again.

Can Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua still happen?

However, Warren remains hopeful, despite Fury’s self-imposed deadline. However, the Queensberry boss has no idea why Joshua and Hearn are taking so long to write.

“We are waiting for it [the contract] return. He has not returned, the contract. We are waiting for him to come back,” Warren told talkSPORT Drive.

“We have agreed on certain things. We are waiting for him to come back. We’ve been waiting ten days, so I have no idea.

“There is nothing as far as we are concerned. We thought we were over it, more or less.

“They have the contract. They have to get back to us now. There have been many conversations, but they have not returned.

“My son, George, talked to the other side and said they would get him back, so we’re still waiting for him.”

On why Fury gave AJ 48 hours to sign, Warren responded: “We keep holding him back.

“We are not that far from December 3. We have to put it up for sale. The place is reserved, but there is a lot of organization involved.”

“We are trying to do it for today [Monday]. We are working very hard to overcome it.

“If everyone agreed to everything, it would be a great company, but we could do it that way.”

When asked about Fury’s state of mind and whether he was moving forward with a possible deal, Warren concluded: “Tyson has told me what he wants.

“They have had the contract for ten days. He has lost patience with it.

“We are trying to make it work. We had a good meeting today, so we’ll see what happens.”

Fury vs Charr

Fury looks to take on Mahmoud Charr, a fight that would mean Cardiff’s Principality Stadium is off the table.

If the WBC allows Charr to fight Fury [as he’s only ranked 19 and needs to be top 15]then it is much more likely that the clash will take place at the Manchester Arena or the O2 in London.

And what does the cancellation of a Tyson Fury fight mean for Joshua? – The DAZN star still has many options open to him.

If he’s looking to guarantee a win after losing both of his damaging fights with Oleksandr Usyk, there’s Dillian Whyte or Zhilei Zhang.

Harder tests come from Deontay Wilder or a third fight with Andy Ruiz Jr. However; both bouts couldn’t happen until 2023.

For now, Whyte and Zhang appear to be the top two options as Matchroom Boxing aims to help Joshua get over his rematch loss to Saudi Arabia and the permanent loss of his WBA, WBO and IBF belts in last august.

At the same time, the Fury team is working with BT Sport to try to find a way forward for their next Pay Per View.
