According to CalcioMercatoWeb (via Sportskeeda), Liverpool are looking to strengthen their midfield by signing Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio. They are willing to offer Joe Gomez a cash plus player deal to bring the Serbian international to Anfield.

The Merseyside team have recorded a difficult start to the season. They are currently 11 points behind leaders Arsenal in the league table. Much of this can be attributed to the Reds’ midfield problems.

Thiago, Naby Keita, Curtis Jones, Jordan Henderson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Fabio Carvalho all suffered injuries in the opening weeks of the season. New signing Arthur Melo has also failed to impress Jurgen Klopp and has yet to appear in a league game for the club.

The German coach will look to bring reinforcements to the job during the next transfer window. Aside from Milinkovic-Savic, Marcelo Brozovic is another Serie A midfielder linked with a move to the Reds in recent weeks.

His performances at the Estadio da Luz earned him a move to the Reds this summer. However, he did not live up to expectations of him at Anfield, scoring just two goals in eight appearances in all competitions this season. His displays for the Reds drew criticism from fans and pundits alike in recent weeks.
