The 2 Liverpool matches taking place at Anfield this weekend – Liverpool FC

The first team is in the midst of the September international break, but there are still two big Liverpool games to go at Anfield this weekend.

International breaks don’t always mean no football.

If you’re not interested in any of the games some of Liverpool’s players will feature for their nations, there are two games to look forward to at Anfield in the next two days.

The first of which will see Liverpool Legends take on Man United Legends at Anfield on Saturday afternoon, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm (BST).

Having won twice at Old Trafford last season, including a 3-1 victory in May, the two teams will meet this time on Merseyside.

Liverpool confirmed a 22-man squad for the match earlier this week, with Álvaro Arbeloa included, while other high-profile names such as Xabi Alonso, Maxi Rodríguez, Martin Skrtel, Robbie Keane, Jerzy Dudek, Momo Sissoko and Stephane Henchoz were also included. they will be involved.

Kenny Dalglish will take over at full-back, with Ian Rush and John Aldridge as assistants.

A Mark Gonzalez brace helped the Reds win 3-1 at Manchester in May, with Luis Garcia also on the scoresheet.

If you’re not lucky enough to be at Anfield on Saturday, fans can buy a virtual ticket for £1.99 to stream the game on Facebook Live, or subscribers can watch it on LFCTV and LFCTV GO.

The following day, Liverpool Women take on Everton in what promises to be a momentous occasion at Anfield.

After an impressive opening day win against reigning Women’s Super League champions Chelsea, Matt Beard’s side are in high spirits heading into the first women’s derby of the season.

It is the first time the derby has been staged at Anfield since November 2019, where more than 23,000 fans attended.

The hope is that there will be even more supporters in attendance this time around, especially given the Reds’ excellent win over Chelsea and the impact of the Lionesses’ success at the European Championship.

There was some disappointing news on the injury front this week, with Leanne Kiernan’s ankle injury against the Blues requiring surgery and likely keeping her sidelined until the new year.

In his pre-match press conference, Matt Beard confirmed that there were no further injury concerns, with Shanice van de Sanden still absent.

“Obviously we are playing against a team with a different system than Chelsea played, so we will adapt to their way of playing,” he told reporters.

“We really want to focus on ourselves and make sure we hit the areas we need to win football games.

“It’s a different occasion playing at Anfield, that will put a bit of pressure on us, but also on Everton. They arrive at one of the most iconic football stadiums [and] It’s a Merseyside derby.”

Kick-off is scheduled for 6:45pm (BST), with the game being shown on Sky Sports Football for viewers in the UK.
