‘That’s the plan’ – Jurgen Klopp reveals what he wants his Liverpool side to do when the season restarts

Jurgen Klopp has claimed he wants Liverpool to restart the season quickly as they prepare for their League Cup clash with Manchester City on December 22.

The Reds lost today 3-1 in a friendly against Lyon and, although the result was not in favor of his team, the German strategist was happy with “many things” during the clash in Dubai.

“That’s the plan… we want to pursue; we want to be really ready right away,” the German said when asked about starting the second half of the campaign quickly (as quoted by Liverpoolfc.com). “That’s why we have to use the time now, we have to train [and] I really give the guys the right intensity in training and again, that’s why I was very happy with a lot of the first half. Know… see if this is the right address, 100 percent. It wasn’t always like that in summer preparation, but we played the game tonight. [and] I saw many of the things I wanted to see.

“So, I am positive, but of course we play against tough, tough teams. We started with Man City and then we played Aston Villa with a new manager yet. They will be very energized, so that’s for sure, we know that, but we want to be, again, the most difficult team to play against and it’s up to us to be that.”

Despite the disappointment of Luis Díaz and Diogo Jota who continue to be ruled out through injury, there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic ahead of the resumption of the campaign.

We are still fighting on all four fronts, we have a Champions League round of 16 tie with Real Madrid and before the World Cup break we had won eight of our last 10 games (in all competitions).

Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Spurs all had far more players than us representing their respective nations in Qatar and are therefore likely to experience fatigue in the new year.

If so, it is imperative that we seize any opportunity as we are 15 points behind league leaders Arsenal.

Let’s hope the lads can’t wait to go when we visit the Etihad in 11 days and leave a bookmark.
