Teddy Sheringham says Manchester United “need to buy” Harry Kane – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United treble winner Teddy Sheringham has told Manchester United that they must sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur.

The former England international spoke of the importance of bringing in quality players to fight for big honours.

“Tottenham need to keep Harry Kane so they can move on, if Manchester United want to move on they need to buy Harry Kane,” Sheringham said on TalkSport.

“It would be the perfect solution and I have a funny feeling that signing Weghorst until the end of the season is just a little stopgap, just putting in a center forward.

“But if you’re going to take that extra step, you have to buy the best players and Manchester United have always done that, and Harry is still the best centre-forward, along with Haaland, to get.

“You’re not going to get Haaland, so go find Harry, he’ll lead the line, he’ll be professional, he’ll be focused, he’ll drag the players with him and make your club a better club, without a doubt.

“I’ve said that about other players like Declan Rice and angry West Ham fans, West Ham needs to keep Declan Rice but other teams looking to make their clubs bigger, stronger and better need to sign players like him, and these players don’t. They come often, so you need to get them when they’re up for grabs.”

Sheringham made the move from Tottenham to Man United in 1997 and achieved successes that simply would not have been possible had he remained at Spurs.

With Harry Kane nearing the last twelve months of his contract, it seems he’s realizing that he, too, must move elsewhere to succeed.

He previously lobbied for a move when Manchester City recalled him early last season, but the Sky Blues were rebuffed by Daniel Levy’s typically upbeat negotiating style.

However, the Tottenham chairman is now in a much weaker negotiating position as Kane’s contract expires at the end of next season.

And while there are reports that Kane would consider staying at Tottenham, a lack of clarity over manager Antonio Conte’s future, as well as some very unconvincing performances from the north London club, may force Kane to look elsewhere as he pursues the. first. trophy of his career at 29 years old.

Kane has been in fantastic form this season, scoring 15 Premier League goals in 20 appearances, taking his otherwise struggling side to fifth in the table.
