Steven Gerrard emerges as shock managerial candidate on list of struggling Champions League giants

Former Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard has reportedly been added to a list of possible candidates to replace struggling Christophe Galtier as manager of Paris Saint-Germain.

Gerrard is a Liverpool and England legend since his playing days, but despite his renowned status, he has yet to begin his coaching career.

The 42-year-old enjoyed success in a spell at Rangers but performed far worse in his most recent job at Villa, so it’s certainly a surprise to see the Scottish Daily Express link him to the likes of PSG.

This could mean that we will soon see Gerrard take over for superstars like Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar if Galtier ends up being sacked after indifferent fashion recently.

Gerrard may well thrive in that environment, but he’s also a great bet for the Ligue 1 giants, who surely need someone more experienced in managing big egos and big expectations…

Gerrard has been tipped as a possible future Liverpool manager, so a role like this would certainly do him a lot of good if he wants to return to Anfield one day.
