Southgate deflects Alexander-Arnold question onto other right-backs

Despite being a mainstay in Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool teams and winning a host of trophies along the way, Trent Alexander-Arnold can’t seem to find a place in the England squad.

As reported by Henry Winter: ‘When asked about Trent Alexander-Arnold, Southgate praised him – “fantastic passing range” – and immediately mentioned others. “Trippier and James are also exceptional on the ball, in different ways.” Unfortunately, Southgate clearly does not believe in Alexander-Arnold’.

It is becoming more and more obvious that there is no place for the Scouser in our team, with his nation and it must be difficult to accept.

Diverting questions about our number 66 to the likes of right-backs Kieran Trippier and Reece James shows that the former Middlesbrough manager has no faith in our defender.

Although it hasn’t been the best start to the season for the 23-year-old, never getting a real chance on the international stage seems like a prejudiced decision.

No matter how well he plays for the Reds and the level of competition he plays in and constantly thrives in, the Red of childhood just doesn’t stand a chance with England.

It’s a real shame on a personal level, but there will also be a lot of our fans who will be happy to see the Childhood Network being given some time off to play.

Another positive aspect is that the player is very young and there is still plenty of time to impress the next manager, whatever the appointment.
