Pundit Graeme Souness is not confident that Chelsea striker Kai Havertz is the right player to lead the Blues’ attack.

“It’s crazy to sell Timo Werner, Lukaku and then sign £170m for three defenders. Surely you must think, football has never changed.
“The most difficult thing to find are the scorers. Spend £170m on defenders, if you can afford it, go out and do it, but the priority for me is that you have sold two strikers, they weren’t the answer in the long or short term, but they were better than what they have. I have right now. You can’t tell me they’re better with the firepower they have now.”
Souness’s criticism comes just after Lukaku officially admitted that he would prefer to stay at Inter Milan after his loan with Chelsea ends this summer.
“Everyone knows what I want. Now I have to do everything necessary with the team for Inter to win and then we can talk to Chelsea,” the Belgian international told Sky Sport Italia.
“I want to stay here and do things right. I hope to do well with Inter in the next six months, work hard and then at the end we talk to Chelsea and hopefully find a solution.”
With Lukaku unlikely to become the Blues’ top hit man, Havertz, if he fails to step up for the remainder of the season, will force owner Todd Bohely back on the transfer market in search of another forward.
