Souness Makes Mo Salah ‘Not the Same’ Claim

Liverpool news: Graeme Souness claims Mohamed Salah hasn’t looked at his best since facing Lisandro Martinez in the Reds’ loss to Manchester United.

Liverpool suffered their first defeat of the season when they took on Man Utd at Old Trafford in their third game of the 22/23 PL season. Man Utd inflicted a 2-1 defeat on Liverpool to secure all three points.

Salah scored Liverpool’s only goal of the game, but was kept in check by Manchester United’s defence, including Martinez. The Argentine had also broken into Salah in the early stages of the game.

Salah has not scored for Liverpool since his goal against Man Utd, and Souness has raised concerns about the Egyptian’s form.

“I’m looking at Salah for Liverpool against Man Utd and in the first five minutes Martinez runs through him,” Souness told Sky Sports.

He added: “The rest of the game, Mo Salah searched for Martinez and searched for where he was. I haven’t seen the same Mo Salah since then.

“I just hope, and he has signed the big contract that he wanted, but at this level, if you take half or one percent off, then you are not the same player.

“I hope it’s not him getting semi on his couch because he’s signed a big contract.

Souness said he said it to anger Salah and prove him wrong. “I say this as a Liverpool fan, hopefully to anger him and prove me wrong,” Souness added.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have not had the start they wanted to the 22/23 Premier League season. They started their league campaign with a 2-2 draw against Fulham. Liverpool also shared points in their next game as Crystal Palace held them to a 1-1 draw.

Then came the match against Man Utd. Liverpool then secured a 9–0 victory over Bournemouth in their next game. They followed that up with a 2-1 win over Newcastle United.

But, Liverpool lost points again in their next match. They faced Everton in the Merseyside derby and shared points with them as the match ended in a goalless draw.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have nine points from their first six games. They sit seventh in the league table, six points behind league leaders Arsenal. Liverpool’s next game in the English top flight is against Wolves. Before that, they start their 22/23 Champions League campaign with a group stage game against Napoli.
