Young Filipino Lienard Saron captured the World Boxing Association (WBA) Asian featherweight title after defeating Korean Jong Sean Kang this weekend by unanimous decision in Gyeonggi-Do, South Korea.
Saron came as a visitor to Sean Kang’s house and put on a great show to win by scores of 96-93, 96-93 and 96-95 in a very competitive and action-packed fight.
Both fighters were tough and left everything in the ring but in the end it was the Filipino who came out with his hand raised and with the regional belt of the pioneering organization around his waist.
Saron’s record improved to 10 wins, no losses and 4 knockouts, while Sean Kang now has a record of 15 wins, 1 loss, 2 draws and 8 knockouts.
