Salita: Nobody Thinks Joshua Will Beat Fury – He Should Fight Wallin Next!

Dmitriy Salita, trainer of heavyweight contender Otto Wallin, strongly believes that Anthony Joshua should fight his man next.

Negotiations are underway for a fight between Joshua and WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

Joshua is coming off back-to-back decision losses to unified WBO, IBF, IBO and WBA champion Oleksandr Usyk.

Salita thinks Fury is a heavy favorite because no one believes Joshua can realistically beat him.

“It’s an interesting fight between Joshua and Fury. Anthony Joshua got better in the second fight against Usyk, but he’s still coming off a loss. You know who’s the favorite in that fight between Joshua and Fury and who’s not. I think if that fight happens in December It’s not as big as it could be, and I really don’t think it can happen in December, because it’s a huge fight and it deserves bigger preparation,” Salita told Midnight.

For Fury-Joshua to be as great as it could be, Joshua needs to pull off some significant wins and upgrades. The public wants big fights where some people think this guy is going to win, or that guy is going to win. At this point, even though it was a good performance against Usyk, I don’t think there’s anyone who thinks Joshua has any chance of beating Tyson Fury.”

Salita says that a fight between Joshua and Wallin makes a lot of sense for everyone involved.

Wallin’s only loss was a decision loss to Fury in 2019. During that fight, Wallin inflicted two severe cuts on Fury’s right eye, and there were times when it looked like the ringside doctor would stop the fight, which at in turn would have turned Wallin into a TKO winner.

“I think Otto Wallin vs. Joshua makes a lot of sense. From what Eddie (Hearn, Joshua’s promoter) and Joshua have said, Joshua wants to be considered an elite heavyweight, A+, and Otto is an A+ heavyweight. If Joshua come back and fight a John Doe with no credentials, no decent track record and no real name, then drop back down to a very average level IMO just fight an opponent with the gloves on, with a pro track record, no no real achievement. – I don’t know if it does anything to him, it may lower his value, depending on who the opponent is,” Salita said.
