Bobby Duncan looked a lot like a player from Liverpool’s past, but his story has made headlines again, following an outburst from his former manager, Saif Rubie.
Speaking on TalkSPORT (via Liverpool Echo), the agent said: “I actually advised him to stay in Liverpool and you have to understand one thing, which is what I was trying to tell them, my job is to do what’s best for whoever tell me to help you, whether it’s the player, a buying club or a selling club.
“In that particular case, you can choose to believe me or not, I thought staying was the best outcome. It wasn’t meant to be and in the end he got a bit ugly with Liverpool, which is unfortunate.

“For whatever reason, Liverpool didn’t want the player to go out on loan to play for the first team. They didn’t want to give him a contract, they didn’t want him to know. Basically, I don’t know what he was.
“Liverpool didn’t want to let this player go at all costs because they wouldn’t even let him go out on loan to prove his worth as a first-team player if that’s what he wanted to do.”
This whole thing seems so sad and frustrating, but it leaves most people with the idea that everyone got what they deserved in this case.
Following this interview on the live radio show, the Whiston-born striker took to his social media to respond with a thread of tweets about what was said.
It is certainly not the player’s fault that he has been forced to comment on this matter yet again, and Steven Gerrard’s cousin also ended his own four-year silence on this decision.
It’s hard to see what the benefit may be for anyone here and the whole thing is quite painful to watch, but encouraging to see that our club officials made the quick and correct decision to cut all ties with both parties.
Now we have a player of only 21 years old who plays in the third division of Spanish football, with his agent talking about private matters on a public platform.
It’s messy, it’s sad, and it will only end in tears for one or both of the men involved in this now-public feud.
