After Manchester United’s thrilling comeback against West Ham, Roy Keane was baffled by the comments made by his fellow ITV pundits.
Joe Cole and Ian Wright had spent some time discussing the Hammers’ performance, convinced that, on another day, it would have been David Moyes’ side who would have progressed to the FA Cup quarter-final.
He sat shaking his head for several minutes of love, finally, Keane had had enough.
“I’ve seen it all before,” he said on ITV Sport.
“They come in, they get a little dizzy, they get chances, not just West Ham, but the Spurs of this world, they get possession, one or two chances, they get cheers, they end up being beaten.”
Keane went on to criticize the lackluster defense of the visitors.
“Defensively, West Ham were shocking, absolutely useless and gave away three goals. I’ve seen it over the years, but it’s ridiculous.”
The former Man United captain admitted the Red Devils “were lucky tonight” but insisted Erik ten Hag’s side always had a chance to pull through despite their slow start.
“We said before tonight that he made a big gamble with all the changes, and it looked like it was going to fail.
“But they started doing what they were good at, player contributions from the bench. 3-1, comfortable at the end”.
With United once again displaying the courage and determination of a winning team, there appears to be a good chance of adding more trophies to Ten Hag’s first season.
Some of the players in the squad, mainly in the heart of the defence, did little to cover themselves in glory, but the score was kept in check until the cavalry arrived, and good performances from Alejandro Garnacho and Tyrell Malacia will have encouraged the coach. . .
