Man Utd news: Roy Keane has criticized Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta for not giving the Red Devils credit for beating them.
Arsenal’s perfect start to the Premier League season was closed by Man Utd. The Old Trafford team hosted Arsenal and inflicted a 3-1 loss on the visitors.
Arsenal had come into the game with a 100% winning record this season, having won all five games they had played. However, they were unable to extend that winning streak as Man Utd emerged victorious.
Antony, making his Man Utd debut, put the hosts ahead in the 35th minute before Bukayo Saka restored equality on the hour mark. Marcus Rashford gave Man Utd the lead again in the 66th minute before dispatching them 2 goals ahead in the 75th minute.
Man Utd news: ‘He’s a sore loser’: Roy Keane on Mikel Arteta
Speaking after the match, Arteta said “the game was there for the taking and he lamented Arsenal’s lack of discipline”.
Keane, who is a Man Utd legend, criticized Arteta for not giving the Red Devils credit for their win over Arsenal. He also called Arteta a “loser.”
“I’m sick of all your Arsenal excuses, I’m serious. Arteta is interviewed afterwards, listen, he’s a sore loser like all of us,” Keane said on Sky Sports.
He added: “But he has to give Manchester United a little credit and he never does. Let’s not make excuses. He lost the game 3-1. You can get the applause, but give me the points any day of the week.”
For its part, Arsenal also had a goal disallowed for a foul in their match against Man Utd. Arsenal thought they had taken the lead when Gabriel Martinelli scored in the 11th minute.
But VAR advised referee Paul Tierney to look at the replay for a possible foul. Tierney then ruled out the goal after he ruled that Martin Odegaard had fouled Christian Eriksen in the build-up to the goal.
The win over Arsenal saw Man Utd move up to fifth place in the Premier League points table. The Red Devils have 12 points from their first six games in the 22/23 PL season.
Despite the defeat, Arsenal remains top of the league. They have 15 points from six games and hold a one-point lead over second-placed Man City.
