Roy Jones Jr Wants Anthony Joshua To Fight Tyson Fury

By Barry Holbrook: Roy Jones Jr says he thinks it’s a great idea for Anthony Joshua to face Tyson Fury next despite losing their last two fights.

Jones feels it would be good for Joshua’s (24-3, 22 KOs) career at this point to face WBC heavyweight champion Fury and it would be a great fight for boxing.

It may not be as good for Joshua’s career as Jones Jr thinks, as his self-confidence seems to be in tatters after back-to-back losses to Usyk.

Perhaps Jones didn’t realize the way Joshua completely unraveled after his second loss to Usyk on August 20. Joshua looked like he had completely lost his composure after the fight.

I don’t know about you, but the last thing fans need is for Joshua to freak out after suffering his third straight loss at the hands of Fury. What Joshua really needs is a couple of easy tweaks against fighters from the last 20 levels and then facing Dillian Whyte in a stadium fight in 2023.

In the meantime, if Fury and Usyk bow out, all the better for Joshua and Deontay Wilder. Joshua doesn’t need Fury, as he has a lot of different contenders that he can face in the division that he will have a better chance of beating.

“I think Joshua should fight Fury first because that’s a fight the UK wanted, and we thought we lost because Joshua lost to Usyk,” Roy Jones Jr. told Fighthype of his hopes Anthony Joshua will fight Tyson Fury. . Following.

“Without losing that, I think that fight could still be on the horizon. It’s one of the best things for Anthony Joshua and for boxing,” Jones Jr. said of his hope Joshua will face Fury.

“Second, Oleksandr Usyk, I would definitely like to see him fight the winner of the two Joes. Joe Parker and Joe Joyce. That’s a great fight, too, and I could see Usyk signing one of those guys.

“Both guys are pretty good punchers, and they would be great fights for someone like Usyk. Usyk and Fury are good boxers, so it will be a decent boxing and chess match on paper. It may not be as entertaining for the fans,” Jones Jr. said.
