Romano thinks ‘Liverpool will be linked with 20-30 midfielders’ this summer

Liverpool’s summer search for a new midfielder will dominate many columns in the year to come and Fabrizio Romano has given his thoughts on the latest name, to be added to the mix.

Writing for CaughtOffside, the Italian journalist said: “We’ve heard a lot about Jude Bellingham, and now Enzo Fernández is making headlines! I honestly think Liverpool will be linked with 20-30 midfielders in the coming months as it is public knowledge that they are looking for a top midfielder in 2023.

“As for Enzo Fernández, he has just arrived at Benfica, he is focused on Benfica and the World Cup, no one close to him wants to talk about a possible transfer now. Let’s see in summer!”

The 21-year-old only signed for Benfica this season, so it does seem very premature to link him with a departure from the Portuguese club.

With one goal and no assists in his first seven league games, we will have to wait and see what the Argentine midfielder can do in his first campaign in Europe.

However, as the transfer guru said, we are set to link up with so many different players in the coming months and it’s hard to know which starters are to be believed and which are not.

There is no doubt that the man most of our supporters want to see sign for the club is Jude Bellingham and he will be the player who will dominate most of the speculation.

In the meantime, however, there will be agents, clubs and players trying to link as many others as possible to Anfield, in a bid to raise the profile of certain people.

Another name in the hat and it’s safe to assume it won’t be the last.
