Romano confirms ‘3-4 clubs’ are ‘interested in Naby Keita’

Naby Keita has been the focus of much transfer speculation of late and Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the teams currently monitoring the status of his contract at Liverpool.

Writing for CaughtOffside, the Italian journalist said: “Borussia Dortmund are among the 3-4 clubs in Europe interested in Naby Keita should he become a free agent.

“The situation is still open with Liverpool, Naby wants guarantees to sign a new agreement at Anfield, so it will be decided in the coming months.”

It feels like a strange position for our club, with a player that much of the fanbase isn’t too convinced deserves a new contract, being offered one.

On top of that, the player also appears to be deadlocked on a possible deal and that is what is causing more updates on the other teams who are reportedly circling to offer him a deal.

This will always happen when you allow a player into the final year of a contract, so these starters are to be expected for many more months to come.

One thing our supporters will be excited to see is that Borussia Dortmund are among the pool of suitors for the 27-year-old, as fans will start putting two and two together.

Jude Bellingham’s potential arrival at Anfield could certainly be enhanced if we secure a pre-contract deal for his replacement, in the form of our number 8.

Whether that comes to fruition, or the club manage to secure a new contract for the Guinean, this story will continue until official announcements are made.
