Andy Robertson has stated that it is wrong that Darwin Núñez is constantly being compared to Erling Haaland.
Both forwards moved to the Premier League for huge fees in the summer with the Reds’ No. 27 scoring six times for his new club so far, while Norway international Haaland has found the back of the net on 22 occasions.
The 23-year-old was on the scoresheet for Liverpool last night when they defeated Ajax 3-0 in Amsterdam to book their place in the Champions League round of 16, but Robertson believes comparing the two forwards is unfair to his new teammate.
“The only reason they compare is because they play the same position and moved in the same window,” explained the Scotsman (quoted by the Independent). “It’s not fair to anyone. If it were the other way around, it wouldn’t be fair to Haaland either. So he looks, they are two incredible players and we are delighted to have Darwin here. He is still young, which everyone forgets and in front of goal he has been really clinical”.

The Uruguayan got going for Jurgen Klopp’s side when he scored twice and recorded an assist in his first two competitive outings.
Joachim Andersen was then shown a red card for a header on his debut at Anfield and missed Liverpool’s games against Manchester United, Bournemouth and Newcastle.
However, since his return from suspension, the former Benfica man has been extremely impressive and his goal in Amsterdam was the fourth in his last four starts.
The Scotland captain believes Nunez showed what he is capable of during the defeat of the Dutch champions, but also spoke about the striker’s shocking miss just before half-time.
“Maybe he hasn’t played as many minutes with the three-game ban, a couple of injuries and he’s still adjusting, but he’s coming through,” the No. 26 added. “Against Ajax, you could really see what their threats are and He caused a lot of trouble and they were already worried about him.
“It’s a big mistake at the end of the first half but good strikers react. He was really disappointed at half time but he used that disappointment to his advantage in terms of being angry and wanting to be in front of goal again and he didn’t shy away from that and scored an incredible header which is what good strikers do. It was good to recover, come back and get the goal that he needed to help the team”.
It’s great to see that the former Peñarol star has finally found his place at his new club.
His work rate is something that stood out last night and if he continues what he is doing, he will be a real success for the Reds.
